Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is an eight to twelve-week course that meets Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and covers an array of subjects. This informative program provides participants an opportunity to have insight and learn about the different ways the Fort Worth Police Department operates from Training to Criminal Investigations.

Preliminary Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must not have any misdemeanor above a class C or Felonies
  • Must have a form of government identification
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must live or work within the City of Fort Worth

    Application Process

    Applicants are encouraged to submit an application two weeks prior to the start of the next available
    academy class to ensure a class seat.

    Citizens Police Academy Alumni

    Upon completion of the course, the student will have the opportunity to become an active CPA Alumni. Alumni attend monthly meetings to cover additional training on safety related topics and learn about volunteer opportunities.

    Citizens Police Academy (Spanish)

    The CPA Spanish is the same course given in English.
