National Night Out
The Fort Worth Police Department invites you to participate in National Night Out (NNO), a nationwide event that promotes police-community relationships and neighborhood togetherness! By hosting block parties, neighborhoods help residents get to know each other, and knowing your neighbors is one of the most effective crime prevention tools.
This year, NNO falls on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Other cities nationwide hold National Night Out in August, but it's too hot in Texas!
Please click the button below to register your NNO event. This ensures that city personnel know where to go that evening to say hello and can provide you with giveaways, while supplies last. When you register online, FWPD will make every effort to attend your event!

Do I Need a Permit for My NNO Event?
If your NNO event or block party will require the closure of any neighborhood streets, you must apply for and obtain an Outdoor Events Permit from the City of Fort Worth Office of Outdoor Events. Click here to learn more about the application process.
You do not need a permit if your event does not require any neighborhood street closures. However, we encourage you to register for your NNO event so we know where to send our first responders and city personnel who will be stopping by NNO parties that evening.
Tips to Plan a National Night Out Celebration
National Night Out in Texas is always held on the first Tuesday of October. We encourage neighbors to plan a fun celebration to get to know each other. Knowing your neighbors and the officers who serve your neighborhood helps prevent crime.
Hosting a great National Night Out event doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Here are some ideas to keep it simple and share the costs:
- Host a front-yard dessert potluck. Ask everyone to bring a lawn chair and a favorite treat to share.
- Ask neighbors to turn on their porch and outdoor lights and just come outside for a walk after dinner.
- Email or hand-deliver homemade invitations to every neighbor on your block. Get the kids to help make and deliver them!
- Add some simple activities for the kids: sidewalk chalk art, corn hole or ring toss games. Let the kids play while the adults catch up.
- Say hello, introduce yourself, help new neighbors meet each other, and collect and share contact information.
- What’s the best time? It depends on your neighborhood. If there are many young children, you may want to start earlier; if most neighbors work, you might start a little later to give folks time to get home.
