National Night Out
The Fort Worth Police Department invites you to participate in National Night Out (NNO), a nationwide event that promotes police-community relationships and neighborhood togetherness! By hosting block parties, neighborhoods help residents get to know each other, and knowing your neighbors is one of the most effective crime prevention tools.
This year, NNO falls on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Other cities nationwide hold National Night Out in August, but it's too hot in Texas!
Please click the button below to register your NNO event. This ensures that city personnel know where to go that evening to say hello and can provide you with giveaways, while supplies last. When you register online, FWPD will make every effort to attend your event!
Registration is open now through Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 5:00 pm CDT:

Do I Need a Permit for My NNO Event?
National Night Out activities are exempt from the Outdoor Events Ordinance and a permit is not required from the Office of Outdoor Events, provided the event will be held on the designated date and times (the first Tuesday night in October between 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm). Please note that this exemption is only applicable to the first Tuesday in October and will not be honored on any other day of the year.
National Night Out event holders are still required to comply with all other regulations of the Outdoor Events Ordinance pertaining to neighborhood events, including street closure requirements. Please see National Night Out Guidelines for Street Requests(PDF, 303KB) for more information.
Tips to Plan a National Night Out Celebration
National Night Out in Texas is always held on the first Tuesday of October. We encourage neighbors to plan a fun celebration to get to know each other. Knowing your neighbors and the officers who serve your neighborhood helps prevent crime.
Hosting a great National Night Out event doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Here are some ideas to keep it simple and share the costs:
- Host a front-yard dessert potluck. Ask everyone to bring a lawn chair and a favorite treat to share.
- Ask neighbors to turn on their porch and outdoor lights and just come outside for a walk after dinner.
- Email or hand-deliver homemade invitations to every neighbor on your block. Get the kids to help make and deliver them!
- Add some simple activities for the kids: sidewalk chalk art, corn hole or ring toss games. Let the kids play while the adults catch up.
- Say hello, introduce yourself, help new neighbors meet each other, and collect and share contact information.
- What’s the best time? It depends on your neighborhood. If there are many young children, you may want to start earlier; if most neighbors work, you might start a little later to give folks time to get home.
