Tarrant County 5 Stones Taskforce

The Tarrant County 5 Stones Taskforce is a community network engaged in collaborative efforts to end sex trafficking in Tarrant County. The Taskforce functions as a coordinated, multi-sector collaboration that unifies various levels of government entities, law enforcement, service providers, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders. Its work is organized across five focus areas:

  • Community Awareness
  • Responder Training
  • Survivor Restoration
  • Policy Advocacy &
  • Demand Reduction.

The Taskforce originated in July 2014 through initial ad hoc coordinating meetings between community stakeholders and the Fort Worth Police Department. As participants recognized the apparent value of this collaboration, the Taskforce transitioned from informal meetings to a structured collaborative body.  In January 2016, the Fort Worth Police Department formally recognized the Tarrant County 5 Stones Taskforce, supporting its continued growth and operational alignment with law enforcement priorities.  These priorities include supporting the anti-trafficking efforts of the FWPD, strengthening coordination among partner agencies, and contributing to the development of innovative and effective response strategies to address sex trafficking in Tarrant County.

Today, the Taskforce represents more than 20 partner agencies and organizations.  Monthly meetings are held eleven times a year with a total in-person and virtual attendance averaging more than 75 stakeholders at each meeting.  The Taskforce has adopted a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach that includes the active participation and input of survivors.

Recent and ongoing Taskforce initiatives include:

  • Collaboration with the Texas Governor’s Office on the development of Care Coordination policies
  • Facilitation of community forums featuring subject-matter expert panels
  • Partnership with Unbound Now on the Not In My City awareness initiative
  • Delivery of educational presentations and trainings for community stakeholders
  • Partnership with Children at Risk to support legislative efforts related to victim protection and accountability
  • Support for local law enforcement policy development addressing youth at risk for trafficking
  • Implementation of public awareness initiatives, including billboard campaigns and the Red Sand Project
