Wellness Unit & Resources

What is the Wellness & Resiliency Program?
The Fort Worth Wellness & Resiliency Program is designed to provide no-cost clinical resources for first responders. Clinical resources include counseling and psychologist office visits that can be accessed without having to go through employee assistance program, officer wellness programs at a police department, a peer network, or insurance referrals.

Why is it important to offer this?
Mental health issues, PTSD, and depression affect 11-34% of first responders.  While first responders may have avenues for private mental health care through insurance or peer networks, many still hesitate to seek help, even in the aftermath of traumatic incidents.  The Wellness & Resiliency Program offers an additional anonymous channel through which first responders can obtain assistance on their own terms.

Are services confidential?
Completely. In addition to being entirely separate from employers, a wholly anonymous process has been put in place, including a provider reimbursement procedure that does not include the first responders name or any other identifying information.

Please see the sections below to learn more about resources available through this program, get contact information, and more.

Approved Counseling Providers

FWPD Counseling Partners (7 Free Sessions)

All counseling providers listed below offer up to 7 free sessions through the FWPD + AWA partnership. Officers contact the provider directly, the provider verifies FWPD employment, and billing is handled behind the scenes.

How It Works

  1.  Officer selects any approved provider
  2.  Provider verifies they are FWPD
  3.  Appointments are scheduled directly
  4.  Provider submits billing to the City or AWA (handled internally to maintain confidentiality)
