Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE)

Mission Statement:
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit will provide quality service to the community through effective enforcement and positive interaction with the transportation community and our citizens.

The Fort Worth Police Department Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVE ) is a specially trained unit of 4 full time officers that are supervised by a sergeant. . Officers are trained by the Texas Department of Public Safety and are certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA ).  Officers are also tasked with weight enforcement on our city streets, highways and interstates within the city limits. CVE officers are very involved in safety programs such as the DFW Council of Safety Professionals and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA ).

Officers in CVE are housed within the Traffic Division where they assist the Traffic Investigations Unit (TIU ) when investigating a commercial vehicle crash which involves serious bodily injury and death.

CVE works very close with other DFW local CVE agencies. These agencies train and conduct enforcement details together each month with a goal of making the entire DFW metroplex a safe place to travel. Officers regularly attend and speak at citizen forums and trucking company safety meetings. Trucking companies regularly contact CVE to assist them with their safety goals by training their drivers and demonstrating roadside inspections so drivers know what enforcement looks for. If you or your company is in need of safety guidance, please feel free to call or email our office for an appointment with one of our inspectors.
