Civilian Response Unit (CRU)

CRU began in 2021 with the Police Department’s desire to provide the citizens of the city with better service. The realization that every call for service did not require a Police Officer to respond gave rise to Civilian Response Unit.

These civilians who are not armed, do not respond to calls where a suspect is on the scene or likely to return. CRU personnel investigate the call, collect evidence (including fingerprinting) and write the police report.

CRU Mission Statement

Work in partnership with Patrol and our citizens to maintain a safe, peaceful community by providing excellent police services dedicated to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
