The Fort Worth Police Department's success greatly depends on you, the residents of Fort Worth, to deter crime in your neighborhood and make our communities safer places to live, to work and to play. Here are just a few ways you can help make Fort Worth become the safest major city in the United States.
- National Night Out - The Fort Worth Police Department invites all residents to participate in each October “National Night Out”. Information about 2023 National Night Out will be provided soon.
- Citizens on Patrol - Citizens on Patrol members provide extra eyes and ears for the Ft. Worth Police Department and work closely with Neighborhood Police Officers to prevent or solve crimes.
- Citizens Police Academy - Citizens Police Academy is an eight week informative program sponsored by the Fort Worth Police Department. The main objective and intent of the program is to familiarize and educate our community with the training, commitment and dedication required of a Fort Worth Police Officer. This program is open to anyone over the age of 21 with an interest of learning more about the nature of police work.
- Crime Prevention Unit offers several programs and services free of charge to assist the community in the reduction of crime. The Crime Prevention Unit consists of 6 Crime Prevention Specialists who are assigned to the 6 patrol division who offer information on programs such as Neighborhood Crime Watch, Security Survey and Inspections, Auto Etching, Safety Fairs, Operation Safe Child, National Night Out, and assorted kid programs. - Explorer Program - Exploring is a career educational and experience-based program designed to help young people develop into mature, caring and responsible adults.
- Community Emergency Response Team - The purpose of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training is to provide citizens with basic skills that they will need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of an extreme disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. By working together, CERT’s can assist in saving lives and protecting property using the basic techniques in this course. This training is free of charge and open to anyone living, working or has a vested interest in the City of Fort Worth.
