Chief of Police Joel Fitzgerald

Dr. Joel Fitzgerald became Chief of Police of the City of Fort Worth Police Department in October 2015. He previously served as Chief of Police in Allentown, Pennsylvania and Missouri City, Texas.

Assistant Chief Ed Kraus

Assistant Chief Kraus began his career with the Fort Worth Police Department in 1992. He has served as an officer, detective and sergeant in several units within the Patrol Bureau. His command experience includes assignments as a Neighborhood Policing District lieutenant, a Patrol Division captain, commander of the Training Division, and deputy chief over the Investigative and Support Command. He is currently over the Patrol Bureau.

Assisant Chief Ken Dean

Assistant Chief Kenneth W. Dean has been commissioned with the Fort Worth Police Department for 22 years. His command experience includes patrol, criminal investigations, major crimes, internal affairs, special operations and tactical command.

Assistant Chief Charles Ramirez

Assistant Chief Charles Ramirez joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 1991. Upon graduation from the police academy he was assigned to the North Division as a patrol officer.

Deputy Chief Robert Alldredge

Deputy Chief Alldredge has been with the Fort Worth Police Department since 1999. He has served as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain in several different units throughout his career. He currently oversees the department's Tactical Command, consisting of the Tactical Investigations Division, Tactical Operations Division, and Tactical Intelligence Division.

Deputy Chief Arthur Barclay

Deputy Chief Arthur Barclay has been in command-level assignments within the Fort Worth Police Department for over 17 years. Prior to these assignments, he supervised patrol field activity for 5 years and served as a detective for 6 years. His past command assignments include Criminal Investigations, Training and Background Operations, Patrol Operations, Major Crimes, Gang Enforcement, and Traffic Division Operations just to name a few.

Deputy Chief Ty Hadsell

Deputy Chief Hadsell joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 1994. His has served as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain in several different units throughout his career. He currently oversees the department's South Command, consisting of the East Patrol Division, South Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Auto Pound & Fleet Services Division, and Air Support Division.

Deputy Chief Renee Kamper

Deputy Chief Kamper joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 1991. She has served as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain in several different units throughout her career. Se currently oversees the department's North Command, consisting of the Central Patrol Division, North Patrol Division, Northwest Patrol Division, and West Patrol Division.

Deputy Chief Julie Swearingin

Deputy Chief Swearingin the Fort Worth Police Department in 1995. She has served as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain in several different units throughout her career. She currently oversees the department's Operational Command, consisting of the Training Division, Professional Standards Division, Communications Division, and Quality Assurance.

Assistant Police Director Leo Luna

Assistant Police Director Leo Luna currently oversees the department's Administrative Support Command, consisting of the Program Support Division, Financial Management Division, and Employment Services.

Patrol Commanders


Each Patrol Division has an appointed Commander, an Executive-level position responsible for each one of the six patrol divisions

Central Commander - Joseph Sparrow

Central Division encompasses a large, diverse area to include the Downtown Business Community, Hospital District, Texas Wesleyan University and many historic neighborhoods immediately surrounding these areas. Included in the boundaries are the major shelters for our homeless population.

The East Division encompasses portions of Council District 4, 8 and the majority of District 5. It stretches from Beach Street to the Airport and is full of history and opportunity, no matter which route you take to get there.

Northwest Division is one of the most historic and culturally diverse areas of our city that is experiencing constant growth and positive transformation. Victor Barragan, 18 years old

Location: 1720 W Pafford
Synopsis: On Sunday, May 8, 2005, Victor Barragan and several of his friends were celebrating the birthday of a friend outside the residence at 1720 W. Pafford. They decided to leave at about 4 a.m.  As they were about to enter their vehicles, someone began firing a gun from a field west of their location that’s adjacent to railroad tracks. Victor Barragan was shot and killed.

Curtis Roberson, 24 years old

Location: 2306 E Berry St
Synopsis: On July 22, 1994, Curtis Roberson was inside the Berry Street Detail Shop at 2306 E. Berry Street. Some males armed with guns entered the shop and, during the course of a robbery, shot and killed Curtis Roberson.

Gloria “Lillie” Hefele, 40 years old

Report No: 80064819
Location: 3900 Samson Park
Synopsis: Gloria Hefele lived with her husband in Waco, Texas. She left her residence on May 14, 1980, to go to a friend’s house in Fort Worth. Gloria Hefele was found deceased in Buck-Samson Park. She died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Eduardo Lopez, 18 years old

Report No: 94298004
Location: 3900 Hemphill
Synopsis: Eduardo Lopez was employed by Danal’s Food Store, which was located at 3900 Hemphill Street. On May 29, 1994, a hispanic male entered the store, armed with a handgun. The male directed the manager to the office, where the safe was located. Eduardo Lopez approached the male. Eduardo Lopez was then shot and killed. The male then placed the manager in a storage freezer, and fled the scene.
