FWPD RangeThe mission for the Fort Worth Police Weapons Range is to provide the safest and most proven quality of re-qualification training in the safe handling, proficient application and justifiable use of all firearms that are approved by the department for use of on-duty and off-duty purposes. The Range Unit will provide a continual education in all firearms and the most up-to-date firearms practices in the law enforcement community.

The Range Unit is responsible and will work diligently to provide a continual education including but not limited to Basic Handgun Skills, Tactical Handgun Skills, Plain-Clothes Operation Handgun Skills, Advanced Handgun Skills, Low-Light Shooting Skills, Basic Shotgun Skills, Tactical Shotgun Skills, Basic Patrol Carbine Skills and Tactical Carbine Skills. This training is necessary to facilitate the officer's need for immediate and spontaneous reactions for lethal attacks during the performance of their duties with the weapons that they carry either on-duty or off-duty. The Range Unit will conduct this training and education in the safest environment with the most qualified instructors available to our department.

Judgement Simulator
SimulatorThe Judge Simulator provide highly realistic use-of-force training that develops the skills required for personnel armed with both lethal and less-lethal weapons. Flexible deployment options allow training to be delivered at fixed facilities or at any off-site location using any one of the portable systems. Driving Simulator
The Advanced Training Unit has recently aquired two driving simulators that provide an innovative driver’s training tool that addresses the major cause of vehicle incidents— poor decision making. The Simulator scenarios can be customized & allows practice of critical decision-making skills in a risk-free environment. Contact Officer Quilla Barnett to make an appointment.
